PROF. RIZWAN AZEEM  studied art and architecture at the National College Of Arts. He has presented papers at international conferences/seminars on Art, Architecture, Archaeology, Cultural Studies, Environmental Design, Geography & History.

He taught Psychology and Urban Planning at Quiad e Azam University Islamabad, University of the Punjab, GCU Lahore, University of Peshawar, NED , UET Karachi, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Xi’an University of Arch & Tech. University of Xinjiang, China, Edge Hill University Lancashire UK, and Shilpakorn University Bangkok, Thailand. On Sundays he does ‘Daastaan Goee’ for children at Faiz Ghar.

SHEHEREZADE ALAM  studied art and design at the National College of Art Lahore. She did post graduate studies from the West Surrey College of Art and Design, UK. Her intimacy with clay, beginning in the early 1970’s made her Pakistan’s first female studio potter, and has seen her travel and work alongside with some of the most acclaimed twentieth century potters in Europe, Asia, US, and Canada. In 2000, she established LAAL, an artists collective, whose mission is to bring cultural and heritage education to young children. The Jahan e JahanAra,Center for Traditional Arts, is an attempt to contribute/ share this passion to/ with the children of Lahore.

This class seeks to explore and celebrate the ancient city of Lahore, investigating the city’s magnificent architecture, gardens, stories, mysteries, fables and more.

What is so special about Lahore? Is it a city made of clay? Who was Mulla Ahmad Lahori, the architect of the Taj Mahal? Why did the medieval navigators around the globe use Astrolabes made in Lahore? By seeking the answers to such questions, your child will take a voyage of adventure and discovery into the 1000 year old time-line of Lahore. Prof Rizwan Azeem, a renowned scholar and architect, will CONNECT children with their city. Along the way, we will also introduce your child to the Geometry Box and the Astrolabe, to help him/her to understand shapes and the wonderment of design.

This course is aimed at introducing your child to their 9000, year old living legacy of CLAY. Children will discover as they learn to touch, sense and feel the 4 ELEMENTS common to human and clay vessel. Each child will have the opportunity to explore their creative potential and artistic skills as they enter the exciting world of pottery.
